Limited Edition Speciality Coffee
We're starting the year with an exceptionally caramel tasting microlot from southwest Honduras. Grown with care in small farms tucked away high up within the clouds on volcanic mountainsides where an abundance of nutrients within the temperate microclimates coaxes the best out of the beans.
The coffee is harvested when the beans are at optimum ripeness, picked by hand and then washed at the local COCAFELOL processing station. The quality of the coffee needed determines how drying takes palce; this particular coffee is dried in the sun
Cooperativa Cafetalera Ecologica La Labor Ocotepeque Limitada (COCAFELOL) processes the harvests from 37 local independent coffee growers. The organisation is keen to promote sustainable agricultural practices and uses many of the waste products from the process of its coffee to use as organic fertiliser. They also run programmes for local young people to learn about coffee agriculture and provide training on how to run a coffee farms to locals, supporting them in every aspect of the trade.
In this specific coffee you will notice sweet herb like flavours, accompanied by a rich indulgent dark caramel and smooth buttery hazelnut taste. The delicate sweetness is reminiscent to watermelon and the cup truly lives up to its potential SCA score of 84.
