Limited Edition Speciality Coffee

With an SCA cupping score of 86, our Costa Rican micro-lot for October is not to be missed. The ripest Catuai and Caturra cherries are hand picked and selectively chosen from the harvest before being processed at the Coopeagri cooperative in San Isidro de General in the Brunca region. Marked by its mountainous terrain and volcanic soil, the high altitudes provide cool climates that are perfect for growing sweet and dense beans. The cooperative consists of small family owned coffee estates which are known for their high quality and environmentally friendly farming.

Once delivered to the wet mill, the fully-washed processing method is designed to protect the environment from degradation, also known as an eco-pulper. This means centrifugal force is used to remove mucilage. This type of method reduces the water usage and limits the amount of excess nutrients in water runoff. The parchment is then washed and dried.

The cooperative produces organic fertilisers that the farmers can access to help them maintain ecologically healthy farms. They also run a local café that showcases the coffees their members produce.

Due to the volcanic soil, the higher altitude and the denser bean, truly exquisite taste notes come into light with a sweet yet juicy yellow plum tartness, a fruity dried apricot and a smooth velvet like marzipan flavour.
