Limited Edition Speciality Coffee
Imported from a small group of farms in the Aberdare mountain range, this super juicy peaberry single origin possesses all the bright acidity characteristic of a superb Kenyan coffee. The red volcanic soil is rich in phosphorus and well drained, making it perfect for the farms of the Othaya Society to produce some of the most incredible coffee beans of the SL-28 and SL34 bourbon varietals.
The reason these beans are able to develop such a unique taste is due to the warm daytime and cool night time temperatures which slow down how fast they grow and help to amass higher levels of sugar in the cherries. Grown by a handful of farms between 1700-1900 masl, the ripe cherries are selectively hand picked before being processed at the wet mill. The coffee is then wet processed where the fully ripe cherries are pulped, fermented, washed again and fried slowly over 2-3 weeks. The final washing process is what gives these beans their bright, clean finish. After grading at the Othaya Coffee dry mill, the highest quality peaberry beans are selected and exported separately from the rest of the crop.
Flavours of smooth berry fruits with a twist of spice produces delicate sweetness followed by a luxurious hint of dark chocolate.
