Cool Down This Summer with These Iced Coffee Ideas
There is a particular kind of satisfaction in making a really good iced coffee at home. Honestly, it is quicker than you would think. Cheaper than the cafe version. And once you know a couple of simple techniques, it is genuinely delicious. Here are some of our favourite recipes to get you through the warmer months.

Start with Good Coffee
It sounds obvious, but the quality of your coffee will determine the quality of your iced drink. Bitter, stale coffee does not get better when you pour it over ice – it just gets colder and more bitter. So, Use freshly roasted, good quality beans, and brew a little stronger than you normally would. When you add ice, dilution is inevitable, so starting stronger means you will end up with a more balanced flavour in the glass.
Classic Iced Latte
This is the one to start with. Simple, satisfying, and endlessly customisable. Brew two shots of espresso and allow them to cool slightly. Fill a tall glass with ice, pour over your espresso, then top up with cold milk – oat milk works beautifully here if you prefer a dairy-free option. Stir gently and serve immediately.
To add something a little extra, try a pump of vanilla or caramel syrup stirred through before you add the milk. We stock a great range of flavoured syrups – from classic vanilla and hazelnut to toffee and beyond – and a small addition like this makes a big difference to the finished drink.

Cold Brew
Cold brew is worth the wait. Unlike iced coffee made with hot espresso, cold brew is steeped slowly in cold water over 12 to 24 hours. The result is smooth, naturally sweet, and lower in acidity than hot-brewed coffee – perfect for those who find regular coffee a little harsh.
To make it at home: combine coarsely ground coffee with cold water in a jar or jug at a ratio of roughly 1:8 (coffee to water). Stir, cover, and leave in the fridge overnight. The next day, strain through a fine mesh or coffee filter and serve over ice with or without milk. It keeps well in the fridge for up to a week.
Iced Mocha
If you love chocolate and coffee together, this one is hard to beat. Brew two shots of espresso and stir through a tablespoon of chocolate syrup while the coffee is still warm so it dissolves properly. Add ice to a glass, pour over the chocolate espresso, and top with cold milk. A drizzle of extra syrup over the top makes it look as good as it tastes.
The chocolate syrup we stock is free from artificial colours, preservatives, and high fructose corn syrup – a great option if you want to keep things as clean as possible.

Iced Passionfruit Tea
Not every summer drink needs to be coffee-based. For something lighter and fruit-forward, an iced passionfruit tea is a brilliant option – especially for those who want something refreshing without the caffeine. Brew a strong cup of black or green tea, allow it to cool, then add ice and a generous measure of passionfruit and lemon iced tea syrup – one of the syrups we stock in our drinks range. Top with sparkling water if you want a little fizz. It is the kind of drink that looks impressive but takes about two minutes to put together.
Tips for Better Iced Coffee at Home
A few small things make a real difference. If you can, use ice made from filtered water – cloudy, mineral-heavy ice can affect the flavour of your drink. Even better, freeze leftover coffee in an ice cube tray to make coffee ice cubes; they will not dilute your drink as they melt. Make any syrup additions before you add the ice and milk, while the coffee is still warm, so everything dissolves and combines properly. And if you have a few minutes to spare, chill your glasses in the freezer beforehand – it keeps the drink cold for longer without needing extra ice.

Final Sip
Great iced coffee at home is well within reach. With good beans, a bit of ice, and a flavoured syrup or two, you have got everything you need to make cafe-quality drinks in your own kitchen – whatever the weather throws at you.
