Beware of those who splash the Fairtrade mark over promotional material but only have a token offering for sale. At Indigo Valley ALL our coffee's are sourced from farmers and producers who are awarded Fairtrade certification by the Fairtrade Foundation - a registered charity. We follow strict and internationally agreed criteria when agreeing product prices with farms or cooperatives.
There are some who to make cost savings calling their coffee ‘ethically sourced’ but haven’t joined in with the Fairtrade mark that churches throughout the UK & the rest of the world believe in and support. It’s not the Indigo Valley way.
Why some want to offer ‘ethical’ coffees and not Fairtrade is a question for you to ask. Be sure that the farmer who grows and picks your coffee gets the same high price that is guaranteed by the Fairtrade Foundation and that their community benefits from long-term investment. Ask to see some proof.
We are very proud of our Fairtrade coffees and teas. We know we could make more profit not using Fairtrade but that is not our vision. One of the reasons our customers like us is because they TRUST us. It’s the Indigo Valley way.
